How to watch today's AFCON 2023 draw

As the highly anticipated TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations in Cote d’Ivoire 2023 approaches, the Confédération Africaine de Football (CAF) has revealed the meticulous procedure for the official draw.

Scheduled for Thursday, 12 October 2023, at 19:00 local time (19:00 GMT, 22:00 Cairo/East Africa time, 21:00 CAT), the draw ceremony will be streamed live on CAF's YouTube channel and broadcast by CAF's global TV partners.

The format for the draw has been meticulously crafted by CAF, with the seeding based on the latest FIFA Rankings. The 24 qualified teams have been assigned to four pots according to their rankings.

**Competition Format:**

- The 24 teams will be divided into six groups (A, B, C, D, E & F) of four teams each.
- The host country, Cote d’Ivoire, will lead Group A (position A1).
- The titleholder will head one of the five remaining groups, with the other four leaders determined by their FIFA rankings.

**Pot Allocation:**

Based on the FIFA rankings issued on 21st September 2023, the 24 qualifying teams have been seeded into four levels.

**Procedures of the Draw:**

**Step 1: Pot 4 (Level IV Teams)**

- The first ball drawn will be placed in Group A, position A4.
- The second ball drawn will be placed in Group B, position B4.
- The third ball drawn will be placed in Group C, position C4.
- The fourth ball drawn will be placed in Group D, position D4.
- The fifth ball drawn will be placed in Group E, position E4.
- The sixth ball drawn will be placed in Group F, position F4.

**Step 2: Pot 3 (Level III Teams)**

- The first ball drawn will be placed in Group A, position A3.
- The second ball drawn will be placed in Group B, position B3.
- The third ball drawn will be placed in Group C, position C3.
- The fourth ball drawn will be placed in Group D, position D3.
- The fifth ball drawn will be placed in Group E, position E3.
- The sixth ball drawn will be placed in Group F, position F3.

**Step 3: Pot 2 (Level II Teams)**

- The first ball drawn will be placed in Group A, position A2.
- The second ball drawn will be placed in Group B, position B2.
- The third ball drawn will be placed in Group C, position C2.
- The fourth ball drawn will be placed in Group D, position D2.
- The fifth ball drawn will be placed in Group E, position E2.
- The sixth ball drawn will be placed in Group F, position F2.

**Step 4: Pot 1 (Level I Teams)**

- The host team (Cote d’Ivoire) is already in position A1.
- The titleholder and the other four Level I teams will be in pot 1.
- The first ball drawn will be placed in Group B, position B1.
- The second ball drawn will be placed in Group C, position C1.
- The third ball drawn will be placed in Group D, position D1.
- The fourth ball drawn will be placed in Group E, position E1.
- The fifth ball drawn will be placed in Group F, position F1.
