Hong and Li bagged the Gross Score and Net Score awards respectively to displace their Ghanaian counterparts in the 18-hole competition which attracted about 50 golfers, both Ghanaian and Chinese.

The closest the Ghanaians came was runners-up in the Gross Score, which was received by Kofi Kusi-Boateng plus a double from Nana Amihere, who took both prizes in the second runner-up for both the Net Score and the Gross Score.

Wang Shu won the runner- up prize for Net Score, while Joshua Peprah’s drive won him the Longest Drive of the competition just as Clifton Best, who got the Closest to the Pin prize.

Elvis Afriyie Ankrah, Minister of Youth and Sports, who graced the event, expressed gratitude to the Chinese for organising such a competition which, he expressed the belief, would help strengthen the relationship between the two countries.

He thanked the Chinese government for its support in the construction of the stadium in Cape Coast, and assured the Chinese of working with them on bilateral projects for the mutual benefit of the two countries. He appealed for their support in organising the Junior Golf Championship which will help unearth new talents and help the youth develop interest in the sports.

The Chinese Ambassador to Ghana, Gong Jianzhong, said the competition was intended to further strengthen the relationship between the two countries and added that they would continue to partner with Ghana in  sports development.
