He said from the first minute when he saw and carried the first body of a fan till presently, he had relied on the support and wise counsel of Otumfuo, who is also the owner of Kotoko, which had made it possible for him to cater for the victims and dependants of those who died on May 9, 2001.

Mr Mensah was speaking at Manhyia where he, together with some dependants and relatives of victims, had gone to pay homage and introduce them to the Asantehene.

With him were some close associates who included Kwame Gabson and King Edward of Hello FM.

Mr Mensah recounted that when he realised the magnitude of the disaster the first person that came to mind was Otumfuo and “when I called, he gave me strength” and asked me to muster courage and face the situation.

“It is through Otumfuo’s encouragements and advise that we have been able to support the families in the last 16 years”, he added.

He said he would soon present the Otumfuo with the list of individuals and corporate entities that had supported the cause till date.

The occasion, which coincided with the birthday of the Asantehene, was also used to commission a renovated ceremonial park named after the late Queen mother, Nana Afia Kofi Serwaa Ampem.
