Helena Obeng named star of Malta Guinness Women’s Premier League

Prisons Ladies star, Helena Obeng, was adjudged the best player of the 2022/23 women’s football season after putting up outstanding performances throughout the season.

 Helena scored 14 goals and won eight player of the match awards during the just-ended Malta Guinness Women’s Premier League.

 It was double victory for the head coach of Ampem Darkoa Ladies, Joe Nana Adarkwah, who emerged as Coach of the Season after guiding his side to retain the title after defeating Hasaacas Ladies in the playoff at the Kwame Kyei Complex at Abrankese.

 Princess Owusu of Fabulous Ladies finished the season as the top scorer after scoring 17 goals for Fabulous Ladies in the Northern Zone.

 The Defender of the Season award was awarded to Berry Ladies’ stalwart, Martha Appiah, with Hasaacas Ladies goalkeeper, Grace Banwa, as the safest pair of hands. She won the Goalkeeper of the Season prize for her agility in the post as she kept eight clean sheets during the campaign.

 Other awards included Discovery of the Season which went to Helen Alormenu of Essiam Socrates, while Ampem Darkoa Ladies were adjudged the Fair Play Team of the 2022/2023 season.

 All winners were awarded NASCO products by Electroland Ghana Limited, shopping vouchers and products from the league’s headline sponsors, Malta Guinness.
