Coach Matic is reported to have lodged a complaint against Hearts with FIFA after he was asked by the supporters of the club to step aside following a series of poor results in the Ghana Premier League.
An inside source told Graphic Sports that the club had rather reported the Serbian gaffer to the Ghana Football Association (GFA) after he absconded from the country without notification to the club.
''We have not had any such complaint from FIFA. If he has made a report to FIFA we have not heard anything formally from him,” the source said.
According to the source, the club was surprised that the coach could just vacate his apartment and fly back to his country without informing the appointing authorities.
''The man (Matic) never told us he was leaving the country, so to us he has gone AWOL and as at now, we don’t know his whereabout.
''The moment we heard that he wasn’t in the country we sent somebody there to check and, lo and behold, he had left the apartment. We were told his driver took him to the airport and the driver has confirmed that,' the source hinted.
The source said even though the club had not sacked him or asked him to go, it did not know the whereabout of the coach despite several checks and, therefore, questioned how he could report Hearts to FIFA when he was the one who had absconded.
''Management has come out with a statement that they don’t know where the coach is and that he has abandoned his position and left the country.
They have not sacked him or asked him to go, and he didn’t tell the club anything but left without the knowledge of the club.”
The source alleged that the coach's poor performance was mainly due to how he failed to build a consistent team but was interested in trying the players in order to get them deals outside.
''His problem was that he was more concerned about testing the boys and sending them away and that was why he didn’t have a permanent set. If you do that you'll definitely have some hiccups. One of the hiccups is what has sent him away,'' the source noted.
The source expressed surprise at the lack of due diligence on the part of the club before engaging the coach, adding that after checking his background, the club had now noticed that wherever the Serbian coach worked, he didn’t last beyond four months.
