According to him, for the past five years, SWAG had neglected indoor sports in their awards despite the great performance put up by these players at both local and international competitions.
“Previously, they gave us the opportunity to nominate players who deserved the award in the sport but for the past five years, handball players have never been considered”, Mr Nortey lamented.
He called on the National Sports Authority to investigate how awards were given to recipients in recent times, adding that the situation is not good for the development of handball in the country.
Some officials have expressed disquiet about the awards since the SWAG announced its awards recently with some concluding that the association has neglected some of the disciplines.
Not long ago, the Chairman of the Greater Accra Basketball Association, Benjamin Baafi, expressed dismay about the decision of the SWAG to sideline basketball players in its awards.
He wondered why some sporting disciplines were no longer recognised in the awards given by the association.
