The Shanghai SIPG star suffered an injury during a match against Guangzhou Evergrande in the Chinese-Super League and he is recovering.

A few days ago, sections of the media speculated that the striker may not feature for the Black Stars in the said match due to his injury but Mr Addo insisted that since the upcoming match was only a friendly, the former Sunderland star would stay away and concentrate on his healing process.

“This is only a friendly match so it will not be a big issue if Asamoah doesn’t participate”, he said.

“He will rather concentrate on his medication and get well soon to participate in the upcoming African Cup qualifiers against Mozambique”, he added.

The Stars thrashed Mauritius 7-1 at the Accra Stadium in their last AFCON campaign and they are leading the Group H pack comfortably.
