The Ghana Taekwondo Federation (GTF) has appointed Simon Koku Gliukpor as its new Technical Director, with Ms Hannah Akua Humphrey joining the Executive Board, as part of a strategic administrative overhaul for the 2026–2030 development cycle.
In a notice released last week and signed by the Secretary-General, Kankpenuba Peter Nuntaa Wisdom, the federation said the appointments were made by the President, Frederick Lartey Otu.
Mr Gliukpor, a seasoned martial arts tactician with experience as a national-level competitor and an international referee, takes over the technical helm of the sport.
His primary mandate is to provide technical leadership and guidance, working closely with the Executive Board, Regional Associations, coaches, referees, and athletes to enhance Taekwondo’s development and performance across the country.
Ms Humphrey, on the other hand, joins the Executive Board as a member, bringing a strong background in sports administration and grassroots advocacy.
She will support the board in implementing federation policies and programmes, and will also assist with financial matters as assigned by the Executive Board.
According to the federation, the appointments underscored its commitment to building a "strong, professional, coordinated and development-oriented administration for the 2026–2030 term".
The GTF has, therefore, urged all Member Regional Associations (MRAs) to extend the necessary cooperation and respect to both appointees to enable them to discharge their duties effectively.
Regional Chairpersons and Executives have also been encouraged to maintain close communication and collaboration with the Technical Director on all technical matters, and with the Executive Board on administrative issues.
