Gruzah to drag FA to CAS

The Chairman of King Faisal Football club, Alhaji Karim Grunzah, says he is dragging the Ghana Football Association (GFA) to the Court of Arbitration for Sports (CAS) to seek justice.

Even though he won’t disclose when he will initiate the process, he said he was going to see his legal team to start the process because they have 21 days within which to proceed to the CAS.

Speaking to the Graphic Sports in an interview last Friday, an obviously disappointed Grunzah said he had been denied justice and until the world sports adjudicating body bring finality to the matter, they would not allow the case to rest.

Last week, the Appeals Committee of the FA upheld a case brought before it by King Faisal challenging the legibility of a Tamale City player during their betPawa Premier League game on May 6 which King Faisal lost 1-4.

They were seeking to be given the maximum points after they alleged that Tamale City fielded an unqualified player, Isaac Mensah who changed his name to Jireh Kojo Nissi.

He said even if their pursuit for justice would lead to the suspension of the league or lead to its cancellation, they don’t mind as they are ready to fight to ensure they get what they want.

“We disagree with the ruling of the Appeals Committee, and we are going to CAS because the player is unqualified. He registered for Tamale City and also for Rainbow with different names and dates of birth.

“But in their defence, Tamale City said Jireh Kojo Nelson was not the same as Isaac Mensah and that they singed Kojo Nelsaon from Rainbow FC but after signing him, they didn’t see him. Is it possible to register a player without seeing him”, he queried?

“Whatever we’ll do, even if the league would not be honoured, we are going to do it, even if it will affect the league, we don’t care because we run the club with money. We are going to fight for our right”, he said.
