The workers participated in a number of activities including, a health walk, tug- of- war, five-aside football, lime and spoon, volleyball, table tennis and sack race.

The teams that took part in the various disciplines were the Administration, G-Pak, Newspapers (Editorial), Technical Services and Marketing.

The annual inter-departmental GCGL games, which was started on September 22, 2012, had to be rescheduled the following year in honour of Samuel Konadu, a member of staff who died in the line of duty on the morning of the maiden games.

The Newspapers department won the 2013 edition of the games followed by G-Pak in 2014 but Newspapers bounced back strongly last year to reclaim the title, dethroning G-Pak as defending champions ahead of this weekend’s games.

The chairman of the organising committee, Mrs Peace Gadogbe, urged all employees to turn up in their numbers to make the games a success.

She said the essence of the games was to encourage exercising and general fitness, as well as foster stronger relationship among staff.

“It is also to bring all of us as employees together to socialise and to foster unity among us,” she noted, and appealed to the various departments to organise themselves very well because this year’s games would be very competitive.
