The Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) ladies hockey team and their Police counterparts would play in the first ever Beige Capital Hockey Knockout final at a date yet to be announced after both teams won their respective semi-final matches at the National Hockey Stadium in Accra yesterday.
GRA, also known as CEPS, defeated their nemeses, Reformers 1-0 while Police were ruthless against ‘old ladies’ Extinguishers of the Ghana Fire Service thrashing them 3-1 in yesterday’s second match.
Light-skinned Ernestina Coffie, a member of Ghana’s youth team at the recently held World Cup in Germany, brought her newly acquired experience to bear on the game scoring the GRA’s only goal in a difficult match while Lydia Nkansah scored a brace withCecilia Amoako (Junior Machine) adding another to silence the Fire Service team.
Right back Rejoice Awaga scored a second half consolation for the Fire team after conceding three goals in the first half.
The Police team, which was dominated by the ladies who played at the World Cup were sharper and well composed and easily exposed the disjointed Fire team.
The Dwadifo Adanfo League continues today at the stadium with Police men’s team against Exchequers of the Bank of Ghana and Trustees of SSNIT versus Golden Sticks of Ghana Commercial Bank being the top liners.
