Golf: Heritage World Cup qualifiers tee-off February 19

The first qualifier for the second edition of the Heritage World Cup will tee-off on Saturday, February 19, 2022, at the Celebrity Golf Course, Sakumono.

The qualifier will be the first of three amateur golfing contests that will be used to select the Ghanaian representatives for the Heritage World Cup slated for Mauritius in July this year.

The remaining two qualifiers would be held from April 30 to May 1, 2022, at the Achimota Golf Course and the Royal Golf Course in Kumasi from March 26 to March 27, 2022.

This was disclosed by the Executive Director of the Aro Golf Tours, Mr Isaac Aninakwah at the launch of the qualifiers last Friday in Accra.

In an address, Mr Aninakwah said the three winners would win an all-expenses-paid trip to join other competitors from 30 other countries to play for the ultimate trophy from July 4 to 9, 2022, in Mauritius.

On his part, the President of the Ghana Golf Association, Mr Mike Aggrey commended the organisers for supporting the effort to promote golf in the country.

Similarly, the President of the Tafo Golf Club, Mr Prince Kofi Amoabeng urged Ghanaians to discard the notion that golf was the preserve of the affluent in society.

The qualifiers are sponsored by Silver Star Auto Limited, Japan Motors, Kenya Airways, Alisa Hotel, Chase Shoes, Accra Brewery Limited, Voltic Ghana Limited, Danco Impex, Equity Insurance Limited and Strategic Plus.
