Golden Shuttlers find their rhythm with three wins at Badminton World Juniors

Ghana’s Golden Shuttlers have bounced back strongly at the ongoing 2026 BWF World Junior Championships in Cairo, Egypt, recording three consecutive victories in the Mixed Team Relay after losing their opening three matches.

The Golden Shuttlers started their campaign with defeats to Chinese Taipei, New Zealand and Azerbaijan, leaving the team under pressure to recover in the remaining matches.

Ghana responded in impressive fashion on Wednesday, October 7, defeating their African counterparts Algeria 2-0.

The Ghanaian quartet dominated both games, winning the first 55-24 before completing the victory with a 54-29 win in the second game.

The momentum continued on Thursday, October 8, when Ghana faced Austria.

The Golden Shuttlers maintained their winning run with another 2-0 victory, edging Austria 55-53 in the opening game before sealing the match with a convincing 55-45 win.


Later in the evening, Ghana faced hosts Egypt and produced another strong performance to complete a remarkable day.

The Golden Shuttlers defeated Egypt 2-0, winning the first game 55-54 before comfortably taking the second 55-41 to secure their third successive victory.

The three wins mean Ghana have now recorded three victories from six matches in the Mixed Team Relay, following their three opening defeats.

The Golden Shuttlers will now look to build on their impressive turnaround as the World Junior Championship continues in Cairo.

The 2026 BWF World Junior Championships is being held from October 5 to 17 in Cairo, Egypt, bringing together some of the best young badminton players from around the world.
