Gladson Awako fit for Galaxies’ next match

Black Galaxies skipper, Gladson Awako, is likely to return to the team for their quarter-final encounter against Cameroun or Mozambique on Saturday.

The 33-year-old midfielder missed Ghana’s second game against Sudan after struggling in the first game against Madagascar due to a knock he picked prior to the tournament.

But the chairman of the Black Galaxies Management Committee, Dr Toni Aubynn, confirmed to the Daily Graphic yesterday that the player had returned to training and was doing well.

Starts training

He said the player resumed training last Saturday and participated fully in all the drills that were assigned to the players by Coach Annor Walker.

Dr Aubynn disclosed that the team was in high spirits as there were no injury worries in camp now.

“There are no injury concerns in camp now. Awako has started training since last Saturday,” he told the Daily Graphic on phone from Constantine, Algeria.

He, however, admitted that even though the player was actively training , he was not in the position to confirm whether he would be given a starting role in the next game since that was purely the coaches' decision.

“He is training actively but selection of the squad for the game is purely in the bosom of the coaches”, Dr Aubynn stressed.
