Mr Bawa, who acted as NSA Director General for nearly six months, reverts to his substantive position as the organisation’s Deputy Director General in charge of administration.

In his handing over remarks, MrBawa described his tenure as very challenging, citing the lack of a dedicated source of funding aside budgetary releases by the government, as the biggest costraint facing the development of sports.

He assured the new Director General of his dedication and unflinching support to help develop and promote sports in the country.

In his acceptance speech, Prof Twumasi thanked the President for the confidence reposed in him and expressed his determination to promote sports at both the amateur and professional levels in an atmosphere of cooperation and fairness to enhance the image of the NSA.

Prof. Twumasi, therefore, called for the support and collaboration of the NSA staff and the Board of Directors to enable him to achieve the task ahead.

The Minister for Youth and Sports, Mr Isaac Kwame Asiamah, praised Mr Bawa for steering the affairs of the authority when the position became vacant.

He described the sector as “very difficult, challenging and the most scrutinised ministry” and, therefore, urged Prof.

Twumasi to be firm in managing the affairs of the NSA.

The minister stressed the need for teamwork between staff and management of the NSA.
