Ghanaian swimmer excels at CAA Champs

US-based Ghanaian swimmer, Jason Jude Arthur, grabbed two gold, one silver and three bronze medals at the 2018 Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) Swimming and Diving Championship held at the Christiansburg Aquatic Center in Virginia, United States.

Arthur, a member of the Ghana swimming team for the upcoming Commonwealth Games in Gold Coast, Australia, represented the Drexel University team at the Championships which ended last Saturday.

The talented swimmer participated in six events, including 200 metres freestyle, 200 metres individual medley, 100 metres backstroke, 400 metres medley relay and 200 metres backstroke.

In the 100 metres backstroke event, Arthur won gold in a time of 48:10 seconds, dropping his entry time of 49:35 before finishing second in the 200 metres race within a time of 1:45:99, dropping his entry time of 1:48:16.

The 19-year-old swimmer also led the team from Drexel University to third place in the 200 yards men’s relay in a time of 1:29:01, dropping their entry time of 1:32:12.

Arthur also led his school team to place third in the 200 metres freestyle relay in 1:22:75 before claiming another bronze in the men’s 400 metres relay.

Arthur climaxed his last event at the competition with gold in the men’s 200 metres backstroke in a time of 1:44:37 against his entry time of 1:45:70.
