In an interview with the Daily Graphic, the President of the GOC, Ben Nunoo-Mensah, who joined a four-member delegation to France last week, explained that the visit was to hold talks with the Paris 2024 Olympic Games Local Organising Committee (LOC) and the Ghana Mission in Paris.

Mr Nunoo-Mensah noted that the delegation, which included the Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports, Evans Opoku Bobie; Chef de Mission, Isaac Duah and Alhaji Hafiz Adams, Chief Director of the ministry, interacted with Paris 2024 LOC on a number of issues including organisation, media accreditation, athletes, officials attending the Games and facilities.

“We held fruitful discussions on ways to ensure we have the best participation during the Paris 2024 Olympics next year. The focus was to ensure we build on the country’s achievement in Tokyo.

“I am hopeful that with the deliberations, we will have the best of preparations for athletes who would be participating at the Games,” said Mr Nunoo-Mensah.

Meanwhile, the delegation also held talks with Ghana's Ambassador to France, Anna Bossman; the Deputy Mayor of Strasbourg and a native of Ghana, Owusu Tuffour; Philippe Fischer-Dieskau, Head of Dept. of Sports; and Madame Marie Wendling, Pool Manager at the Strasbourg Aquatic Centre.

Ghana won a bonze medal at the global showpiece in Tokyo two years ago when boxer Samuel Takyi ended the nation's 29-year drought by finishing with a bronze medal in boxing.
