State rewards Mukarama with GH¢30,000

Mukarama Abdulai, the Golden Boot winner and second best Player at the 2018 FIFA Under-17 Women’s World Cup (WWC), has been rewarded by the State with GH¢30,000 for her feat.

Mukarama, who captained Ghana’s Black Maidens to the tournament in Uruguay last October and scored seven goals and had three assists, received her reward at the office of the Minister for Youth and Sports, Isaac Kwame Asiamah.

Making the presentation, Mr Asiamah said the reward was in recognition of Mukarama’s exploits that brought Ghana yet again into the limelight.

Before the presentation, the 16-year-old and her managers were invited to the Jubilee House where she was hosted by the President.

Interacting with her, President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo the lady who also plays for Northern Ladies, to see her exploits in Uruguay as a stepping stone to greater heights in her chosen career as a footballer.

“We all followed with keen interest, your exploits during the Under-17 WWC in Uruguay last year.

You made us all proud and I would like to congratulate you for that.

“However, that must not be the end.

What you achievd should spur you on to further greatness.

You must maintain the same level of discipline and determination build on that success,” President Akufo-Addo advised.

In response, Mukarama expressed gratitude for the ‘surprise’ which she said would encourage her and others to always strive to give of their best when they are called upon for national duty.
