Hearts, Karela to thrill fans today?

A thrilling spectacle is expected to rock the Accra Sports Stadium this afternoon when Zone B table toppers, Accra Hearts of Oak, take on second-placed Karela FC in a match day 12 midweek encounter.

Hearts, with 22 points, will go into the match on the strength of a 2-1 away victory over Cape Coast Ebusua Dwarfs last Sunday, while Karela United, who are on 21 points, made a 2-0 light work on WAFA at home last Sunday.

With just a point separating them, both clubs are expected to push to the limit to give the fans their money’s worth and something to remember in this violence-infested Normalisation Committee (NC) Special Competition.

The Phobians will count on home advantage as Kim Grant’s charges will quickly want to bury the goalless draw nightmare which befell them against a 10-man Liberty Professionals side in their last midweek encounter.

Away from this epic clash, other interesting Zone B encounters will see Ebusua Dwarfs playing host Dreams FC at the Carl Reindorf Park at Dansoman, while Elmina Sharks trek to Sogakope to engage WAFA in another exciting game.

Bottom-placed Inter Allies will play host to Liberty Professionals at the Tema Sports Stadium with a mission to salvage some points to improve upon their dwindling fortunes.

In Zone A, leaders Medeama Sporting Club will take a rest tomorrow and watch from the sidelines how second-placed Asante Kotoko fare against rejuvenated Eleven Wonders at the Baba Yara Stadium.

Coach Samuel Boadu’s lads, who are atop the log with 19 points, are four clear points ahead of Kotoko who have 15 points.

That is why the supporters of Kotoko would expect nothing but a home win from Coach Charles Akonnor’s men to close the gap after losing 0-1 away to Ashantigold last Sunday.

Aduana Stars will also have an arduous task against Ashantigold at home tomorrow, while at the Berekum Golden City Park, Chelsea will battle Bechem United in another cagey affair.
