As part of efforts to generate excitement around this year’s race, it will be preceded by a leisure ride involving all cyclists.

At a meeting to brief various stakeholders on the details for this year’s Cowbell Cycling Challenge tournament Wednesday, Brand Manager for Cowbell, Mr Joseph Ashong said his outfit was hopeful that the prize money will attract the best cyclists in the country.

In an interview with the Daily Graphic, Mr Ashong stressed that the race is part of Cowbell's commitment to support least-funded sports in the country.

“As a brand that has grown on the backbone of our local communities, we will continue to make inputs that will make our communities better and these include developing other sporting activities that can grow to the level of football. We want to grow cycling to a level where some of our Ghanaian cyclists can feature in a global tournament like Tour De France,” Mr Ashong explained.

This year’s tournament is sponsored by Cowbell in collaboration with the Greater Accra Cycling Association.
