GFA to decide Milo’s fate

The Executive Council (ExCo) of the Ghana Football Association will hold a crunch meeting in Accra Wednesday, January 26, to determine the fate of Black Stars coach, Milovan Rajevac, following Ghana’s humiliating group stage exit from the 33rd edition of the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Cameroun.

The highlight of the meeting will be the discussion on the directive by the Minister of Youth and Sports, Mustapha Ussif, to the FA to review the Black Stars technical team and also reconstitute the Black Stars Management Committee chaired by Mr George Amoako.

At a crisis meeting held at the Jubilee House in Accra last Friday, the minister, acting on behalf of the government, impressed upon the GFA top hierarchy to sack Coach Rajevac following the Stars’ poor showing at the continental fiesta but the FA thought that hasty decision would hamper Ghana’s FIFA World Cup chances.

Ghana are scheduled to play arch rivals Nigeria in the Qatar 2022 FIFA World Cup playoff in March.

The ExCo was expected to receive the reports of the Stars’ head coach, Milovan Rajevac and the Black Stars Management Committee yesterday.

Today’s meeting will also discuss the Black Princesses’ World Cup qualification over Uganda and other matters of concern on the domestic league.

Also on the agenda is the commencement of the Regional Football Association (RFA) leagues and the regional division two league calendar for the 2021/22 season scheduled to be completed on June 30, 2022.

The four-time champions were beaten 1-0 by debutantes, Comoros in their last Group C match in Garoua, resulting in Ghana’s worst AFCON performance since 2006.
