US-based Ghanaian tennis star George Darko on Christmas day assumed the role of Santa Claus when his foundation (George Darko Foundation) presented assorted food items to children on admission at the Orthopaedic Training Centre located at Nsawam.

Members of the foundation led by Darko's sister Adjei Michelle Twumwaa and step-mother Janet Osei handed over the items to officials of the Centre on Tuesday, December 25, 2018.

"George is the type that never gives up, no matter the circumstances he finds himself in. So he, through the George Darko Foundation decided to bring a little happiness to the children at the centre," Madam Twumwaa said at the presentation.

"He hopes that through this donation, some happiness will be brought to all the children here," she added.

The inmates later performed a dance recital for the members of the George Darko Foundation.
