Galaxies host Nigeria in Cape Coast Sunday

Black Galaxies are expected home from Austria tomorrow to finalise preparations for Sunday’s African Nations Championship (CHAN) qualifier against their Nigerian counterparts at the Cape Coast Stadium.

The home-based national soccer team left Accra last week for a seven-day training tour in Austria ahead of their crucial two-leg CHAN qualifier against their arch-rivals this weekend.

Coach Annor Walker and his men will move straight to Cape Coast upon arrival in Accra tomorrow to prepare for Sunday’s first leg.

Determination

The Galaxies are bent on qualifying for the CHAN this time around, following three successive misses by the nation at this tournament reserved for local-based players.

Striker Daniel Afriyie Barnieh and his teammates eliminated Benin with a 4-0 aggregate in the first round last month. The Black Galaxies thrashed the Junior Squirrels 3-0 in the first leg in Cape Coast, before pipping them 1-0 in the return leg in Cotonou.

Coach Walker and his able assistants, Prosper Narteh Ogum and Bismark Kobby Mensah, have declared their intention to go past Nigeria to win the main tournament slated for Algeria from January 8 to February 5 next year.
