G-PAK, 2014 winners, lost the title to the Newspapers Department last year but put up a spirited performance to win back the title after winning the volleyball, 4X100 (women), ludo, musical chairs, tug of peace (women), sack race as well as the egg and spoon events for both men and women.

Dethroned champions, Newspapers, came second after winning the five-a-side football, gari soakings competition, 100 metres (men), table tennis and eating from a string contest.

Technical Services took the third position for winning the draught event, 4X100 (men) and the tug of peace (men) followed by Administration Unit and the Marketing Department.

Prior to the games, the participants embarked on a health walk from the El-Wak Stadium through the Lands Commission to the 37 Military Hospital and back to the venue before they were lectured by Dr Kojo Cobba Essel, a private medical practitioner on occupational health hazards.

Speaking at the programme, the Managing Director of GCGL, Mr Kenneth Ashigbey, expressed appreciation to the organisers of the Samuel Konadu games as well as workers of the company for their immense contributions towards the success of the competition.

Mr Ashigbey also congratulated the overall winners, G-PAK, as well as the other departments, on their efforts but encouraged those who did not participate to make good use of the opportunity next year.

The annual inter-departmental games are held in memory of the late Samuel Konadu, a driver of the company, who died through a road accident while on duty in the morning of the maiden games four years ago.
