The Super Falcons are owed allowances and bonuses dating back to 2021 that prompted the team to threaten a strike prior to the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup.

However, the team decided against following through on the strike to focus on the campaign in Australia and New Zealand. The team made it to the Round of 16 stage.

Nigeria were eliminated from the tournament after losing to England on penalties after playing out a goalless draw against the Lionesses in regulation time and missed out on picking a slot to the quarterfinals.

In the aftermath of the Super Falcons elimination, the team is determined to receive all payments owed them.

Like Nigeria, Morocco and South Africa got eliminated from the competition at the same stage after falling to France and Netherlands respectively.

FIFPro, in the statement, said that it would assist the team to ensure “contractual rights are honoured”. Below is the statement.
