Ex-Black Stars winger George Arthur dies in Sunyani

Ex Black Stars right winger, George Arthur died Sunday afternoon at Sunyani after a short illness.

He was reported to have collapsed when playing a draught game at a popular joint, Dreamers opposite the Sunyani Senior High School at about 3:00pm.

Reports said he was pronounced dead shortly after he was rushed to the Brong Ahafo Regional Hospital in Sunyani.

A source at the hospital confirmed the death of the ex Black Stars prolific right winger to Graphic Online Sunyani Correspondents, Emmanuel Adu Gyamerah and Zadok K. Gyesi.

The source explained that the deceased was on medication for hypertension.

The source said a doctor who happened to be near the joint where the incident occurred gave him first aid before he was rushed to the hospital for treatment.

He could, however, not give the specific cause of Mr Arthur's death.

George Arthur played for Brong Ahafo United, Kumasi Asante Kotoko and some foreign teams before his retirement.

He ventured into sports administration after his retirement.
