Etwi-Barimah wins Captain’s Prize golf

Veteran golfer Florence Etwi-Barimah, last Saturday grabbed the ultimate in the Lady Captain’s Prize golf competition to add to her collection of mementos at the Tema Country Golf Club.

She returned a 3 over par 75 net score in the 18-hole event to run home with a giant trophy and an LG microwave.

Nicknamed Lady Scientific, the veteran golfer attributed her brilliance on the day to constant practice on the course weeks to the tournament which was held in honour of the outgoing Lady Captain, Sherry Hammond.

She has excelled in major competitions this year such as  Captain’s Prize, President’s Putter, Adelaide Owusu Adjapong, AGM, HFC tourneys.

Margaret Anderson and Mrs Mona Myles-Lamptey (Mona Captan) finished second and third respectively, and for their efforts, they took home trophies and LG cooking appliances.

J. Wright, young Cathy Boateng and Sampany Gambrah, occupied the first three positions in the Ladies Group B event.

Kwame Ligbidi, a consistent performer, returning a 6 under par with 66 net score, distinguished himself in the men’s Group A, with Reuben Avoryi returning a 4 under par with 68 net and J.E. Ocansey, 3 under par, 69 net  followed in that sequence to also receive trophies and LG home appliances. 

It was Evans Darko Mensah, playing on 7 under par who finished  tops in the men’s Group B, while Archur Zhang and J. Coffie followed in that order.

John Mawuli recorded a 1 under par with a 71 score to finish first in the pros event to pocket GH¢400 cash prize and a trophy.

Francis Torgah, with a 73 net score, beat Eric Henaku by just a stroke to pick the second prize of a trophy and GH¢250 cash prize.

The closest-to-the-pin prizes went to I. Bentil (men) and Mercy Werner, while Mrs Lamptey picked the longest drive for the ladies with J.E. Ocansey receiving the men’s prize.
