Eric Donkor: Kotoko will be ready for busy season

Kumasi Asante Kotoko deputy captain, Eric Donkor, says the club’s early exit from the G8 tournament has rather added impetus to their preparations towards the forthcoming Ghana Premier League (GPL) season as well as the CAF Confederation Cup.

He thus remains upbeat of a new Kotoko side when the season commences, promising to give their fans something to be happy about.

“So far preparations have been good, the new additions brought on by the technical team have been a plus for us, so I believe with the right mentality, we would be playing more cohesively as a team by the start of the season,” Donkor told the Graphic Sports in an interview.

He was also happy about the role of their new assistant coach Akakpo Patron, whose arrival he said had complemented the effort of Head Coach Steve Polack to put the team in a better shape.

The deputy Kotoko captain was optimistic about the chances of the club in the upcoming continental campaign and said they would take the game as it comes, in their quest to achieve their objective.

“It is going to be a difficult journey having to compete in both the league and the Confederations Cup competition, but we are determined to do well and I believe with the assistance of the technical handlers, the cooperation of players and support of all Kotoko’s stakeholders, we hope to make an impact and achieve our aim,” Donkor emphasised.
