Dzadey wins Tema Captain’s Prize

Barry Dzadey delivered below course par of 66 to pick the ultimate prize in the Tema Captain's Prize at the Tema Country Golf Club last Saturday.

Dzadey by four strokes beat Felix Anthonio (69) who in turn shot past B.K. Asare by just a stroke in the well-attended shotgun competition.

An impressive 62 net score handed the men's group B first prize to Jojoba Ansah. Yaw Tenkorang, 64 net, and Jimmy Thorne, 67 net, followed in that order.

Jessica Tei, 76 net, relied on her youthful exuberance to beat experienced Leticia Amponsah Mensah by two strokes. Ragheda Khalil picked the third prize with a 79 net.

It was Christiana Furlar who distinguished herself after recording a 75 net in the ladies’ handicap category, beating Gladys Awuni.

The pros event saw John Mawuli finishing first with 69 net, while E.K. Osei and Francis Torgah followed with 71 and 75 gross scores respectively.

The men longest drive prize went to Frank Avorsey, while mercy Werner took home the ladies version.

Jack Yong picked the men’s closest to the pin award, with Leticia Amponsah Mensah picking the ladies prize.

Okyenhene Osagyefo Amoatia Ofori Panin and the Ghana Golfers Association’s Mike Aggrey revealed efforts being made behind the scenes to rope in the youth.

Club captain, Joshua Peprah, in whose honour the shot gun competition was played, commended golfers for travelling far and near for the event. 

The tournament was sponsored by Stanbic Bank, Guinness Ghana Brewery Limited, Kenya Airways, PZ Cussons and Unilever Ghana.
