DStv offers most affordable World Cup ever – MultiChoice Ghana warns pirates

MultiChoice Ghana has unveiled its most affordable World Cup campaign ever, offering Ghanaians access to all 104 matches of the 2026 FIFA World Cup for as little as GH¢50, and has warned pirates to stay away or face arrest in partnership with law enforcement agencies.

Speaking at the launch of the DStv MultiChoice 2026 FIFA World Cup coverage, Country CEO of MultiChoice Ghana, Mr Alex Okyere, said the company was working with the police, customs, and other law enforcement agencies to clamp down on the illegal telecast of matches during the tournament.

"If you're a pirate, you don't have the right to do this, and you go and do it. You go and do it, we'll come after you with the police," Mr Okyere warned.

He clarified that while some Free-To-Air channels have the right to telecast selected matches, DStv remains the only platform offering all 104 games live.

"There are two sections of it. There's the FTA side, so the FTAs will have the FTA matches. They will not have all the matches. But if you want to watch all the matches, then the only place to watch it is on DStv and on GOtv," he explained.

He added that any FTA channel without the rights that attempts to telecast matches would also face sanctions.

Most affordable World Cup campaign ever

Afua Kissi Nyame, Head of Communications at MultiChoice Ghana, described the initiative as the company's most accessible World Cup campaign to date.

"This time we are bringing it as low as GH¢50. We are giving it to all our customers. We are saying that if you have as little as GH¢50, you can watch all the 104 matches," she said.

She highlighted that SuperSport has lined up exciting punditry, including former Black Stars captain Asamoah Gyan, as well as live Twi commentary to make the experience highly engaging for Ghanaian fans.

"We know that Ghanaians are already expecting so much from the Black Stars, and everybody wants to have that stadium experience. So, we are bringing it to your doorstep with only GH¢50," she added.

On the issue of piracy, Ms Nyame echoed the CEO's warning, stating that MultiChoice has partnered with the appropriate authorities, including the police and military, to clamp down on offenders.

"We are saying that stay away from it, it's not allowed. The right governmental agencies, like the police, the military, etcetera, we've partnered them, and so they are going to clamp down on these people. It's so affordable, and we are saying that for all our Ghanaian customers, just reconnect with GH¢50, have this beautiful experience right from your home."

Fear of missing out

Mr Okyere urged Ghanaians not to miss out on what he described as the biggest event in the world, especially with the Black Stars participating.

"You cannot afford to miss out. Most importantly, our Black Stars are there. Some countries tried to qualify and they couldn't, but we have our Black Stars there. It is 104 matches. It's going to be a feast of football, so you just cannot afford to miss out," he said.

"Even if you are not interested, you'll be interested. So, it's better you get interested. Come on DStv, come on GOtv from as low as GH¢50, reconnect and watch all the matches live and in HD."

Making DStv more affordable

Mr Okyere explained that the World Cup offer is part of a broader strategy to make DStv more accessible to Ghanaian homes beyond the tournament.

"It's not just the World Cup. What we want to do is we want to make DStv more affordable and get every home to get a DStv. So we are starting with the World Cup, but we're not going to end there. After the World Cup, we still have a lot of things coming your way."
