Abdul Aziz Issah’s well-taken free kick in the 40th minute beat Kotoko’s goalkeeper, Danlad Ibrahim, who was left stranded in the post.

Once again, the game did not end without controversy as referee Robert Musey and his two assistants refused to officiate the second half after they were pelted with sachet water during the interval.

The supporters were protesting what they believed was a penalty which was overruled by the referee, after Serge Eric Zeze was fouled in the box. Before then the fans had disagreed with the referee when he ruled Steven Mukwala’s goal in the 22nd minute as offside.

For well over ten minutes after both teams had reported on the pitch, referee Musey and his assistants were nowhere to be found.

It took the escort of heavy security officials at the stadium to bring them back onto the pitch from the dressing room.

Dreams FC were the better side on the day as they dominated the game, and could have been up within the first 20 minutes but the alertness of goalkeeper Ibrahim kept them in the game.

Ibrahim’s agility in the post was stretched to the limit in the 40th minute when Issah’s free kick beat him to give the visitors a deserving lead heading to the break.

The visitors dominated the game after recess and Kotoko struggled to match them until the game came to an end. The players of Kotoko and the coach were booed as they left the pitch for the dressing room.

Dr Prosper Narteh had to stay back in the dugout for well over 20 minutes after the players had left the pitch just to escape the wrath of the supporters who were waiting to vent their spleen on him.
