Daneshvar dazzles in Westchester monthly tournament
Seven-year-old Haamon Daneshvar became the star of this month’s Westchester Table Tennis tournament when he exhibited exceptional talent to finish second of the under 850 category.
Even though he did not win the ultimate, his level of dedication and skills within a short period of playing table tennis, made him the toast of the competition.

A protégé of famous Ghanaian trainer, Courage Nanevie, Haamon brushed aside threats from senior players to beat everyone to the final.
Nanevie was surprised by the level of development of the young player who has been under his tutelage barely three months but has chalked such significant success.
Haamon who played in the qualifiers alongside 24 other players in the preliminary stage, managed to beat them all to advance to the 1/16th stage of the competition.
At the 1/16th stage, he once again showed his class when he defeated Wang Faye to make it to the quarter final.
Just when many thought he had come to his wit end in the quarter final, he once again demonstrated his quality to beat Mohamed Shiver to progress to the semi-final round of the competition.
Sadovnycha Kateryana was confident of stopping young Haamon in the semi-final but once again he proved superior when he triumphed to qualify for the final.

The final game also saw a fierce competition between him and Huang Charles who battle to a 2-2 set before eventually losing the tie to Huang.
Apart from the monthly medal which the player demonstrated good skills, he has also been a key figure in the Westchester league night matches on Tuesdays and Thursdays where he often stands tall among his peers.
His Ghanaian trainer who was disappointed his student didn’t win the final encouraged him to look forward to other tournaments in the coming months where he is optimistic Haamon would emerge victorious.
