Commonwealth Games: Injury rules out Ghana sprinter Emmanuel Dasor

Ghanaian sprinter Emmanuel Dasor has been ruled out from participating at the 2018 Commonwealth Games in Australia after suffering an injury.

Emmanuel Dasor revealed in a post on Instagram that three weeks ago he suffered an accident that has truncated his Commonwealth Games dreams with only four days to the start of the Games on April 4 at the Carrara Stadium, Carrara, Australia.

Emmanuel Dasor did not reveal the cause of the "wreck" but stated that he hopes to return to the track stronger and faster than he was before his injury.

Emmanuel Dasor posted: Today mark three weeks I got into a wreck. Not what I wanted to happen as I was preparing to represent my homeland Ghana at the coming Commonwealth Games in Australia. It’s unfortunate but I believe God gives His greatest battles to His Greatest Warriors. To my Country 🇬🇭,I wish you’ll a healthy and victorious games. It would’ve been an honor to represent you again but God knows best and I’m trusting in His timing. I will be back stronger, faster than even. #IBelieve #TheReturn 🙏🏿🙌🏿.

The picture that accompanied the post shows Emmanuel Dasor in a neck brace lying in pain on a gurney.

His loss is likely to affect Ghana's medal hopes especially in the 4x100 relay race where he would have linked up with Sean Safo-Antwi who also recently lost his father.

Emmanuel Dasor specialises in the 200 meters and 400 meters races. He represented his country at the 2016 World Indoor Championships without advancing from the first round.

Dasor was hoping to make his second appearance at the Commonwealth Games after appearing at the 2018 edition in Glasgow, Scotland.

In December 2017, Dasor graduated from the Western Kentucky University, with a Degree in Business Administration.
