Coach Hughton, who failed to include any local player in his first Stars call-up, has vowed to give them the opportunity they deserve.

At his unveiling on Monday, the former Tottenham Hotspur manager said, “I will be spending more time in Ghana. I will be watching more games.

“I am constantly being made aware of players who are doing well. I'll be paying more attention to [GPL] games because it is important that we have a strong national league."

The promise from the new Stars trainer would be welcomed by Ghanaians who feel players in the local league must be given the needed opportunity to play in the senior national team.

Ghana are expected to host their Angolan counterparts at the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi on Thursday, March 23 in an Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier.

Coach Hughton is expected to commence his reign as Stars boss on a bright note by recording a convincing victory at home before leaving for Luanda for the second-leg encounter on Monday.
