Ghana's Black Satellites will begin their campaign in the West Africa Football Union (WAFU) U-20 Championship with a high-profile clash against Nigeria later today in Yamoussoukro, Côte d'Ivoire.
The team wrapped up its preparations yesterday with a final training session aimed at fine-tuning tactics and sharpening match readiness ahead of the much-anticipated encounter.
The Black Satellites have been drawn in Group B alongside Nigeria, Burkina Faso and Togo, with all their group matches scheduled to be played at the Lycée Scientifique Stadium in Yamoussoukro.
Head coach Maxwell Konadu, assisted by his technical team, supervised the final training session as the players put the finishing touches to their preparations for the opening fixture.
The WAFU championship presents the Black Satellites with an important opportunity to build momentum, strengthen team chemistry and assess themselves against some of West Africa's finest young talents.
The tournament also forms part of the team's preparations for the 2027 TotalEnergies CAF U-20 Africa Cup of Nations, which Ghana will host.
A positive start against their long-time rivals would not only boost the team's confidence but also enhance their chances of progressing from a competitive Group B.
