Black Queens coach scouts for players for WAFCON, Olympics qualifier
Just days after qualifying Ghana for the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) to be staged in Morocco next year, Black Queens coach Nora Hauptle has begun a relentless effort to strengthen her team in pursuit of an Olympic slot.

The coach is undertaking a scouting mission across the globe to fish out any excelling Ghanaian-born footballer to bolster her squad for the two pending international assignments, especially the crucial 2024 Olympic Games qualifiers against Zambia in February and the 2024 WAFCON to be held in June.
According to a Ghana Football Association (GFA) statement, the senior women’s team coach will embark on more of such monitoring exercises to observe players for future assignments.
Hauptle's first port of call was Saudi Arabia where she made a stop in Jeddah for the game between Saudi Arabia Women’s Premier League sides Al Ahli and Al Ittihad. She interacted with Black Queens winger, Alice Kusi, who plies her trade with Al Ahli and former Black Princesses defender Cecelia Hagan who also features for Al Ittihad.
Having qualified for the 2024 WAFCON, the FA is determined to ensure adequate preparation for the team for the continental competition and also pick a slot for the 2024 Paris Olympic Games.
The Swiss coach, who took over the mantle last January, has turned around the team’s fortunes, making sure that the team qualified for the WAFCON on a high note and is currently hunting for more players to augment the squad.
Meanwhile, the Queens have been placed fourth in Africa in the latest FIFA rankings released last Friday.
The recent rankings placed the Queens behind powerhouses Nigeria, South Africa and Morocco who hold the top three positions.
The feat reflected the team's current improvement as well as underscored their potential to further climb the ladder in the world of women's football..
