According to him, the team was focused and ready to make the nation proud during the competition and asked all Ghanaians to back them with prayers.

Speaking to the communications bureaux of the Ghana Paralympic Committee, he said as the host nation, they cannot disappoint the country and they intend to work hard to ensure the trophy is kept in the country.

Ghana would be hosting the first edition of the amputee football Africa Cup in Accra from September 3 to 12 and the skipper is confident they have what it takes to win the trophy.

Oppentil, who led the team to win the CANAF competition in Tanzania in 2021, believes he and his team have done it before even in an unfamiliar terrain and playing in front of their own fans will motivate them to work hard to win the trophy.

A total of 12 teams from the continent are expected to participate in the maiden tournament from which they would be placed in three groups of four teams each to play among one another.
