Ghana’s Black Challenge have named a provisional 20-player squad for national camping ahead of the 2026 World Amputee Football Federation (WAFF) World Cup in Mexico.
The tournament is scheduled for November 13–22, 2026, in San Juan de los Lagos, with 24 national teams expected to compete for the world title. The Ghana Paralympic Committee announced the provisional squad on September 21, 2026, with the final selection of 15 players to be determined after preparations.
Ghana, one of historic seven African countries set to compete in Mexico, enter the tournament with an impressive continental record.
The Black Challenge won the African title in Tanzania in 2021, beating Liberia 3-2, before claiming gold at the inaugural African Para Games in Accra in 2023, after defeating Morocco 2-1 in the final. Ghana retained the African crown in Cairo in 2024, again beating Morocco 2-1, a victory that secured qualification for the 2026 World Cup.
The three goalkeepers selected by head coach Richard Obeng are Razak Seidu (Asanteman AFC), Atsu Abor (Global AFC) and Richmond Fosu (Talent Hour Discovery).
The 17 outfield players are Isaac Kwabena Eshun, Issah Jabel and Amidu Rafiu (Asanteman AFC); Timothy Hayford, Prince Nyarko and Emmanuel Osei Kwadwo (Gye Nyame AFC); Joseph Baidoo (Our Hope AFC); Yussif Yahaya, Richard Arthur Opentil, Mohammed Mubarik and Hamza Mohammed (Sahinbey, Türkiye); Richard Ekwam, Samson Larbi Sarfo and Fuseini Iddi (Konya, Türkiye); Emmanuel Allotey (Sisli Yeditepe); Joseph Amoh and Collins Gyamfi.
The squad reflects a blend of players competing in Ghana and Türkiye as the coaching team begins preparations for the global tournament.
With final selection still ahead, each player will be seeking to secure a place in the squad that will represent Ghana in Mexico.
The Ghana Paralympic Committee (NPC) Ghana President Samson Deen has also called for support from Ghanaians, corporate partners, government and the wider sporting community as the Black Challenge prepare for their latest international challenge.
