Arteta signs new Arsenal contract until 2030

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has signed a new contract with the Premier League champions that will keep him at the club until 2030, declaring that “this is only the beginning” of the club’s success.

The Spaniard’s previous deal was due to expire at the end of the season, but the new agreement could see his tenure at the Emirates Stadium stretch to more than a decade following his appointment in December 2019.

The 44-year-old has reportedly agreed to an improved salary package, increasing his basic annual pay from £10 million, with bonuses taking his total earnings higher.

“This club is unique, its character and the way it makes you feel, and I have a great sense of privilege that our journey together will continue,” Arteta said.

“We have already built a special bond and created memories that will last a lifetime, and what is so exciting is that this is only the beginning of what we can achieve together.”

Arteta has won the Premier League and FA Cup during his time in charge of Arsenal, while the Gunners also reached the Champions League final in May, where they lost to Paris Saint-Germain.

The decision to extend Arteta’s contract comes as little surprise, given his long-standing desire to continue at the club beyond the current campaign.

The Spaniard has overseen Arsenal’s transformation into one of the leading teams in European football, with the club’s first Premier League title in 20 years last season viewed as the beginning of a new era.

Their narrow Champions League final defeat was a major setback, but has also strengthened the club’s determination to compete for further major honours.

Arsenal co-chairmen Stan and Josh Kroenke said the club shared “a special bond” with Arteta and praised his contribution since returning to the club in 2019.

“We are so proud of everything we have achieved since he returned to the club in 2019,” they said.

“He has a deep understanding of Arsenal’s values and carries them in his heart. He knows what this club means to everyone connected to it and is committed to building on everything we have achieved together.”

With Arteta’s future now secured, Arsenal have maintained the leadership and stability behind their recent resurgence as a major force in English and European football.

Arteta’s new deal signals his commitment to building on the club’s recent success and pursuing further history with Arsenal.
