Arsenal must take the initiative if they are to spring a surprise against Bayern Munich tomorrow night.

The Gunners sit bottom of their Champions’ League group after galling defeats to Dinamo Zagreb and Olympiakos, meaning the pressure is on ahead of back-to-back clashes with the Bundesliga giants.

Bayern have started the season in sensational form, winning their first nine league matches and scoring eight unanswered goals in continental competition to date.

They have also knocked Arsenal out of Europe in two of the last three seasons, so there is no doubt over the magnitude of the task facing Arsene Wenger's men.

Arsenal must go on the attack if they are to stand any chance of getting a result.

Goalkeeper Petr Cech is confident Arsenal can use the momentum of two strong Barclays Premier League performances to give themselves the perfect build-up for tackling Bayern Munich.

The Gunners resumed domestic action following the international break looking to carry on from the rout of Manchester United, and they delivered another impressive display when winning 3-0 at Watford in last Saturday's late kick-off.

Wenger's squad have little time to refocus before they return to Champions League action against the Bundesliga giants, who look in imperious form both in Germany and Europe.

Cech, however, believes the manner in which Arsenal dispatched both United and then Watford under testing circumstances can only stand them in good stead as they aim to kick-start their bid to qualify from Group F following successive defeats.
