Ghana Women's Premier League champions Ampem Darkoa Ladies have qualified for the 2026 CAF Women’s Champions League after beating Nigeria’s Edo Queens 1-0 in the rescheduled WAFU Zone B qualifying final in Cairo, Egypt.
The Ghanaian champions scored during extra time to settle a contest that had ended 2-2 in regulation time on September 5 in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso.
Edo Queens had initially won 4-1 on penalties, but the Confederation of African Football (CAF) annulled the result after upholding Ampem Darkoa’s protest that the match had gone straight to penalties without the required extra time.
CAF’s Organising Committee for Women’s Football ruled on September 26 that the match should resume from the start of extra time. The decision was upheld by the CAF Appeal Board on October 16.
Ampem Darkoa’s victory secures the WAFU Zone B slot at the continental tournament, scheduled to take place in Egypt from November 1 to 15.
The Techiman-based side have been drawn in Group B alongside defending champions AS FAR of Morocco, Kawempe Muslim Ladies of Uganda and USFAS Bamako of Mali.
