Ghana took the first set 26-24 but the South-Eastern African nation came back strongly to win 25-14, 25-14, 25-17.

The females must now beat Egypt and Bostwana and hope Sychelles loses to Egypt and Congo to qualify for the semi-finals.

The Black Spikers will play their Egyptian counterparts tomorrow.

At the Complex De Nautique swimming Centre, Ghana’s Mark Ofosu Twum placed sixth among seven participants in the men’s 50m breaststroke heat to miss out on qualification to the next stage.

Also at the Palais Des Sports, Ghana’s Umo Yusuf-Do failed to progress to the next stage of the Karate-Do, kata category after losing out to her Chadian opponent in the pattern display.
