Lamptey, who left the shores of Ghana in the company of his trainer Ebenezer Adjei, is getting in shape under the tutelage of South Africa’s ace trainer Colin Nathan.

According to Alex Ntiamoah-Boakye, CEO of Box Office Sports Promotions, handlers of Lamptey, the 20-year-old fighter is likely to return to the ring on April 30 in Accra.

The boxer’s manager explained that Lamptey needed the training tour in South Africa to improve his technical know-how.

“We believe this is the perfect opportunity for him to improve his craft,” Ntiamoah-Boakye told Graphic Sports.

“He has a lot of activities lined up this year so we believe this trip would help him get in shape to have a successful year.”

Lamptey (11-0, 8 KOs) fought once last year when he earned a deserved unanimous decision victory over Abraham Ndauendapo in Tanzania last September.

The Ghanaian boxing prospect is expected to have more fights this year as he looks to challenge for continental honours before venturing into the world championships.
