Afena-Gyan wins Conference league

Black Stars arrowhead, Felix Afena-Gyan tasted his first European glory as his club, AS Roma won the maiden Europa Conference League last Wednesday.
Even though the 19-year-old was an unused substitute, this will be his first trophy since joining the Italian side last season.

Roma won the trophy following a 1-0 victory over Dutch side Feyenoord at the Air Albania Stadium in Tirana, the capital of Albania.

It was also Jose Mourinho's first season in charge of the Italians side and characteristically managed to grab a trophy for them.

Nicolo Zaniolo intercepted Gianluca Mancini's lofted pass in the 32nd minute before beating goalkeeper Justin Bijlow with a clever flick to score the only goal of the game.

The win makes Mourinho the first manager in European history to have won all three European competitions, the Champions League, Europa League, and UEFA Cup having made five wins in five European finals.

Afana-Gyan has now joined the growing list of Ghanaian players who have won European titles including Abedi Pele, Samuel Osei Kuffour, Michael Essien, and Sulley Muntari among others.

Suarez facy playing alongside Messi

Luis Suarez has hinted at a possible reunion with Lionel Messi after admitting he could join David Beckham's Inter Miami franchise with the Argentine international.

Suarez and Messi developed a formidable partnership during their time at Barcelona and won the LaLiga title four times and the Champions League once as a result.

Suarez - who is a free agent after being released by Atletico Madrid - has said that he would like to reunite with Messi at Inter Miami 'in a few years' as they have a 'great connection'.

When asked on the Spanish radio station El Larguero whether he and Messi would consider joining the MLS franchise, Suarez said: 'With Messi in Miami in a few years?

'Hopefully... you never know what happens. We've a great connection. There is nothing better than seeing two colleagues happy outside so that they perform inside.'

Suarez wanted to stay at Atletico Madrid for the 2022-2023 season but the club stated their intentions to part ways with the 35-year-old ahead of his final game.

Suarez was not informed about his departure until the day before his final game. As a result, the Uruguayan striker was left sobbing on the bench after being substituted off the pitch.--Daily Mail
