Aduana supported Saka during injury — Commey

Aduana Stars' Chief Executive Officer, Albert Commey, has denied claims by skipper Godfred Saka that he was neglected during his long injury lay-off.

He expressed surprise at Saka's claim that the Premier League champions only gave him financial support during his stay on the sidelines, and noted that his outfit did everything to ensure the defender returned to action within the specified period.

In an interview with the Graphic Sports, Mr Commey advised the defender to stop peddling falsehood about the club just because he wanted to quit, and questioned the player’s motive for tarnishing the club's image despite being under contract until next month.

"All that he said about the club neglecting him was false because we did everything for him to ensure that he returned to action. We took him to Wenchi for treatment after his injury.

"When we came back to Dormaa, Nana [Osagyefo Agyemang Badu II] gave him GH¢2,000 for his upkeep and referred him to a doctor at the 37 Military Hospital in Accra so I don't know what he is talking about," Mr Commey stressed.

The feud between Saka and Aduana took another twist recently when the player ruled out a possible contract extension being offered him by the club in favour of a move abroad. But a supposed move to Nigerian side, Enyimba FC, failed to materialise when negotiations broke down between the two parties.

When asked whether Aduana were still keen on signing on their influential skipper, Mr Commey declined comment but said the player “needs to show commitment to the club.”
