Adjetey targets Rio Olympics

One of Ghana's silver medalists at the Brazzaville All Africa Games (AAG), David Koney Adjetey, has targeted qualifying for the upcoming Olympic Games in Rio next year after his feat at the continental competition.

Adjetey, a US-based Ghanaian taekwondoist, said his main aim was to train harder to make the Olympics in Rio.

This, he said, would put Ghana on the world map once again.

"My main focus now is to qualify for the Olympic Games next year," he told the Graphic Sports in an interview in Accra last Friday.

"I must train hard to make the games to be able to put Ghana on the map once again," he added.

Meanwhile, Adjetey, whose ambition was to win the gold at the AAG, credited his opponent for being the better performer on the day.

He, however, said winning silver at the AAG was an improvement on his bronze medal in 2007.

Adjetey lauded the talents Ghana possesses in taekwondo, but lamented on the lack of infrastructure to improve their skills

"I believe Ghana possesses a lot of talent in taekwondo, but the only problem is the lack of infrastructure to improve their skills," he emphasised.
