Activa gives GH¢30,000 for 42nd SWAG Awards

ACTIVA Insurance, an international insurance firm and a long-standing supporter of the Sports Writers Association of Ghana (SWAG), has presented an amount for GH¢30,000 for this year’s SWAG Awards Night.

At a presentation ceremony in Accra yesterday, the Managing Director of Activa, Mr Solomon said the continuous support for the SWAG Awards was not only the company’s commitment to its corporate social responsibility but also because the event had proved to be very credible.

Mr Lartey said Activa was also encouraged to support the SWAG to honour and recognise the deserving sportsmen and sportswomen as it remained the only platform for which these athletes who excelled are honoured for their hard work and effort to raise the flag of Ghana high.

He commended SWAG for continuing with their objective of encouraging and motivating excelling sportsmen and sportswomen, despite the challenges.

“Providing support for the SWAG Awards means a lot to Activa because we have found the SWAG Awards to be the most credible and also, it provides the company with the chance to bring to the fore the importance of insurance in sports,” Mr Lartey said.

The president of SWAG, Mr Kwabena Yeboahwho received the cheque, was grateful to Activa for their continued support, given the increasing rising cost of organising the awards ceremony.

He assured that the association would maintain the standards set for the awards as it had become obvious that the business of “honouring excelling sportsmen and sportswomen at the national level has been inadvertently made a SWAG business”.
