Achimota Squash Club defeat their Takoradi counterparts

Ghana's fastest-rising Achimota Squash Club are still on their winning ways as they have triumphed over Airforce Officers' Mess (AFOM) Squash Club, Takoradi.

The 5-2 ended SONO Squash Invitational Friendly saw players of the must-watch Achimota Squash Club display their dominance over their Takoradi counterparts at the AFOM Squash Club court in Takoradi in the Western region on Saturday, October 07, 2023.

The Achimota squad included two of Ghana's maiden participants in the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, UK, Mark Owiredu-Gyening Jr. and Clement Anafo, among others.

The icing on the cake was Achimota Squash Club's "star girl", Portia Gana, defeating her bragging male contender, John Amu Mawuko of AFOM Squash Club, Takoradi.

Portia is one of the few female Ghanaian squash players being inspired by Achimota Squash Club to join their male counterparts in the promising sport.

Boys and girls are also part of Achimota Squash Club's agenda to make squash and all-inclusive sport to brighten Ghana's chances in future competitions.

Achimota Squash Club are noted for spearheading periodic invitational friendlies and opens across the country.

The club, therefore, have called on corporate Ghana to support their advocacy in cash and kind due to the health and economic advantages, beyond the entertainment, the nation stands to gain from squash.

The SONO Squash Invitational Friendly was supported by Eastfield Foundation, ANKAA Tropical Oranges, Aqua Blue mineral water and Socialite.

The next SONO Ghana Squash Invitational Friendly is slated for December.
