2017 Homowo races start today

Four separate races will highlight this year’s Homowo Festival Race Meetings scheduled to come off today and September 30 at the Accra Turf Club at Borteman.

The event, which is under the distinguished patronage of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, is expected to bring together a large crowd, including horse owners, jockeys, race officials and the media for fan-packed activities.

The categories to be competed in are Division 3A, 3B, 4A, and the Novices over a distance of 1,400 metres, 1,200m, 1,400m and 1,200m respectively.

Horses such as Sea Bird, Who Is Free, Bonanza, Diplomatic Lady, Sly Mongoose, Sea Never Dry, Attention Please and Fresh Boy will face it off in the Division 3B, while Amora, La Wo Yor, Thunder Storm, Simply Great, Ultimate, Ikaida and Nine-Eleven will lock horns in the Division 4A event.

The Novices category will witness Chelsea, Larro, Bushon Sugar, Beauty Queen, Wonder Boy, Happiness, Superior Lady, By His Grace, Marco Polo, Tse Addo and Diva battle for various prizes.

According to Mr Samuel Turkson, Secretary to the Board of Stewards, the gates will open at 1:30 p.m. and will attract a fee of GH¢2.
