Egypt coach Bob Bradley claims his Pharaohs side can march Ghana’s quality and they stand a good chance of beating the Black Stars to qualify for the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.
The Pharaohs have not played at any of the World Cup tournaments since 1990 in Italy and are eager to show up in Brazil.
But Bob Bradley’s men must eliminate a Ghana side that is coined as one of the continent’s finest and features Juventus’ Kwadwo Asamoah, AC Milan midfielder Sulley Muntari, Michael Essien and Andre Ayew.
Egypt’s squad is basically made of home talents with Ahli and Zamalek players forming the core of the team with FC Basel’s Mohamed Salah also to talk about.
Despite the high-profile nature of the Ghana team and their recent dominance of the continent’s football along with the Ivory Coast, Egypt’s American trainer Bob Bradley says his side does not respect Ghana that much.
“We did a lot of work. We studied Ghana well; we respect them, but at the same time we are a good team,” the 55 year-old tactician said during a press conference held Wednesday at the re-commencing of the Pharaohs’ preparations camp.
“We must be smart in Kumasi. We need to play with the right mentality; intellectually but with confidence.”
“The players are the ones who deserve all the credit because of their concentration during the group stage [in which Egypt got full marks to top group G],” the former United States coach added.
Bradley’s comments could also stem from the fact that the North Africans have enjoyed a good run against the Black Stars in their recent games.
Bradley himself last played against Ghana at the 2010 World Cup in South African when the West African giants defeat his United States of America side 2-1 to advance to the quarter-finals of the World Cup.
